Van Hohe is a socially conscious entrepreneur involved in several businesses from music to real estate and design and most recently as one of the founders of CHORD Real Estate, LLC – a boutique brokerage with a niche focus on Premier, Sports, Entertainment, and International real estate clientele.
In his 25-year career in the music business, Van worked with artists to use music, tours, and strategic relationships to raise awareness of social issues nationally and globally seeing thousands of children sponsored in impoverished regions and raising significant monies to build schools in Africa and South America helping those in need affected by hurricanes, storms, war, poverty and even the bombing in Oklahoma City years ago.
In 2010 he turned his attentions homeward to face the poverty “in our own backyard” that he observed in the development of a youth leadership program for his area school system. Subsequently, Van founded The Needs List Foundation, Inc. as a creative, last-resort resource to area teachers and counselors to provide nice school clothes and urgent needs for impoverished students. The foundation board member and now business partner, Steve Luther, had the grand idea of combining Van’s experience of messaging and image consulting from the music world and infusing it into the world of real estate.
Van’s staging and design work quickly broke sales records and garnered attention from industry leaders. After a short involvement with the development of a design show for a major television network, the Steven Ashley Group, LLC was formed ultimately paving the way for what is now known as CHORD Nashville; their unique real estate marketing and development group/brokerage provides buyers access to an extraordinary level of services and design throughout Middle Tennessee; a portion of their profits continue to help fund The Needs List Foundation.
In 2012 Van was awarded Person of the Year by Leadership Sumner for his involvement in the community through the creation of the Leadership Sumner Youth Program and ultimately The Needs List Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Marketing, studied in the Music Business program at Belmont University, and has a Master of Arts degree in Conflict Resolution from Bethel University in Nashville, TN. In addition to his various endeavors, he serves on several boards and speaks to groups throughout the region on getting involved in the issues of child poverty, human trafficking, education, family conflict resolution, and youth leadership.
