Vik’s Views: Views from Topgolf!

Welcome to Vik's Views – A corner of the CHORD's newsletter highlighting Nashville's incredible neighborhoods from up high!

When you think of cooler weather and turning the clocks back, sometimes the thought of a rooftop visit may not be front of mind, but there are a few key places that know how to bring the heat up a notch!

I recently visited the rooftop of a hole-in-one venue on Nashville’s urban East Bank just over the bridge from Germantown that entices sports enthusiasts and tourists alike… Topgolf!

If you don’t already know, Topgolf is an incredible entertainment venue with a high-tech golf driving range that opened in 2017 nestled between Germantown and East Nashville with a gorgeous view of the skyline by the Cumberland River off their rooftop bar. With a staff of over 500 employees, Topgolf was a huge addition to the tourism scene in Nashville and has two live music venues within the complex, including The Cowan. The company has 50 locations across the United States, United Kingdom, and even one in Australia, but as a corporate giant, Nashville’s Topgolf still makes you feel as local as it gets.

Anamarie, a team lead at Topgolf, invited us up to the third of three floors of the Driving Range, and gave me the inside scoop on all things safety and sanitation. At every waitstaff station, you’ll find sanitation materials that are used to clean between each group at the golf bays. Between each bay, which fits a party of up to six people, is a large hanging panel of plexiglass to reduce the contact between parties but keep it feeling airy and open.

Topgolf is a naturally outdoor experience while playing in the bays, which is an increasingly important safety feature. During your hourly playtime at any bay with your friends, you’ll be greeted by masked staff members and heaters above you to keep you warm! The food is great, the drinks have a kick, and the employees are welcoming. It’s open year round, so as Nashville gets colder, Topgolf becomes an increasingly perfect way to celebrate special occasions or reconnect with friends.

Topgolf is a pioneer on the East Bank — a parcel perfectly positioned between Germantown, East Nashville, and Downtown.  Just behind me in this photo sits coveted real estate for the highly anticipated “River North” project.  The 100+ acre mixed-use space is slated to have commercial and residential properties, an updated marina, and even a music venue just on the banks of the Cumberland.  A recent article in the Nashville Post talks about how the project, which was ready to break ground prior to COVID-19, has slowed. However, it appears the project is ready to ramp back up and the future of River North is bright!

Connectivity is paramount and the original plans show a pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River to Germantown. When this is a go, it will be an absolute game changer for the nearby neighborhoods and could very well spike the property values all around the River North development.  A riverfront park & other green spaces, bike paths, and river taxis are all possibilities along with well-planned high rises that will expand our already incredible Nashville skyline.

I am watching this project closely and would love to keep you in-the-loop as plans continue to develop and real estate opportunities become available.  Better yet, why not consider an existing property nearby and be ahead of the curve? Our team at CHORD is passionate about Nashville real estate and keeps a close eye on emerging markets like River North! We are excited to show you the CHORD concierge difference, and while we’re at it get a game or two in at Topgolf!

As we transition into the colder weather, I'm always on the lookout for great winter rooftops. Let me know your favorites and we can meet for some hot chocolate, or to hit a few golf balls, and talk about your dream home! See you at the top!
