Historically, residents moved here to be a part of the Dupont Gunpowder plant and built several of the homes now on the National Register of Historic Places in an area called “The Village”. Today the city is growing and contains man local favorites like Lawrence and Clark Cacti Co., Lakewood Community Theatre, and Sam's Sports Grill at Blue Turtle Bay.
